The Big Ones:
The Alchemist - This is a book I read every year while on holiday, an easy read which makes all the better for me, although the audible audio version is enjoyable as well. This book spoke to me on so many different levels at the time of reading this, helps me understand that no matter how many distractions that life may throw at me if I have been lucky enough to of found my calling I need to listen to it and follow my heart and my intuition.
The Success Principles - I have had the great honour to have been mentored by Jack Canfield on his first ever train the trainer program back in 2009, his book was like a bible to me as my business and life was going through a transition, the contents of this book are very simple but of course that doesn’t mean they are always easy to execute. I personally think this is a must-read for anyone want to create and live the best version of themselves.
The Secret - Personally I have a love-hate relationship with this book, I think there are a lot of people out there that think that sitting on their arses and dreaming of a great life without doing something is the answer, me not so much. What I will say is that during my illness this book had a very important message for me and that was that I needed to focus on what I wanted in life, during my dark years I was consumed by negativity and doubt this book helped me change that and I am grateful for that.
Essentialism & The One Thing - Both these books are really about the same thing, personally I prefer Essentialism and I love the interview the author Greg McKeown did with Michael Hyatt during season three of his show. These books really helped me strip away the noise I could create with being busy which actually often stops many of us from working on our core goals.
Ten Second Philosophy - I have the great honour of being able to call the author of this book a friend as well as a mentor, he has taught me so much. This book has really helped me set what Derek calls Daily Standards, to shape my attitudes towards my self, life and business. It really is a book that helps you understand that if you want to live or be a certain way then you have to create the personal standards to live that way. You can find out more by listening to an interview I did with Derek Mills on the Success IQ Podcast
Turning Pro - This was a massive read for me, I remember reading it on holiday and feeling so excited because certain things just seemed to click into place. It's really strange how books can do that but this one had me writing notes in Evernote into the early hours of the morning. The big takeaway for me from this book was the difference in thinking and was I running my life and business with an amateur or a professional attitude. I remember the next day huge changes were made to the business and I was on the phone to my mastermind sharing my insights with excitment.
As this list grows I will also add more reviews and thoughts about some of the books to this post but I would love to hear about the books that have made an impact on you.
