053 – Geoff Nicholson Reflects on the Podcasts 1st Birthday

Wow, it's been a year, I celebrate the shows 1st Birthday!

Can't believe is the shows birthday already, It's amazing how time flies, to think I have been on this podcasting adventure for 12 months already is crazy, not to mention the amazing people I have met and the support I have had from the listeners of the show who are getting so much from the content I am sharing.

I am truly grateful for all of your support and suggestions that you are sending, it really does help me make the show better and drives me to keep doing more.  This show really is about reflection on the last year.

Top 5 Episodes of the Year

  1. Episode 21: Stu McLaren
  2. Episode 4: Lisa Dadd
  3. Episode 27: Roger Masterson
  4. Episode 5: Simon Raybould
  5. Episode 0: The Shows Origin Story

I am so glad the statistics chose the top episodes for me because I personally have loved everyone, the guests have been fantastic and so open to sharing their knowledge.

My Favourite Episode:

That all being said I do have a favourite episode because it challenged me in so many ways. I have been a huge fan of Stu McLaren for many years ever since I saw him co-host a podcast cast series with Michael Hyatt. I remember sitting in my lounge saying to my wife and son that I would love to have him on the show but I was a mere mortal and there wasn't a cat in hells chance of him saying yes.

I had been rejected by a few big names already, understandable I was a new show and my audience was not at the level they required so I just added them to my guest bucket list and will contact them further down the line.  My son turned and said "what harm is there in asking him", I hate it when they use my own lessons against me.

So that is what I did, I Facebook messaged him, to my absolute shock he replied about ten minutes later saying he would love to and forwarded me a link to arrange with his assistant a date and time I was shocked but bloody excited at the same time.

Then the day of the interview came, I was so nervous, I had butterflies and sweating.  This was such an important interview because I was talking to someone I have a huge amount of respect, we began and he was just brilliant, funny, high energy, down to earth and as I expected shared a huge amount of value.  I could have spoken to him all day.

So my favourite episode was #21 with Stu McLaren and I am so glad it reached the top slot of most downloaded episodes.

My Favourite Life Lessons:

I am always been asked about my favourite life lessons, which is a really hard one to answer because all of them have such an important and personal connection to me, on this episode I discuss some of the ones which I think are key.

  1. Define Success
  2. Embracing Fear
  3. Start your Day Right
  4. Surround yourself with the Right People
