Many people suffer from stress and at many different levels;
I have placed together some tips to help you deal with your stress more effectively.
Self hypnosis – Hypnosis is an amazing way of getting yourself in to a state of complete relaxation, it can be as simple as listening to a CD or finding something on iTunes. Find yourself a quiet place or somewhere you can give yourself 30 minutes, as you progress I normally recommend you create a relaxing routine that naturally falls into your day.
Meditation – Personally I found this very strange at first, but once I opened my mind to the possibilities I really enjoyed the experience. My personal aim is to do this every day for around 30 minutes, but as usual, something always gets in the way so even doing 5 minutes can actually help when time is tight.
To me it’s about calming the mind and controlling your state so I can relax and allow my body to be at its optimal level.
Moderate your consumption of alcohol and caffeine – if you are suffering from stress you must do everything possible to reduce it. This may also mean giving up caffeine, smoking, sugar etc. It may seem useful at the time but the benefits will be short lived but there can be other adverse effects such as lack of sleep.
Sleep – If you can have a good night’s sleep you will allow your body to recharge and wake up feeling more refreshed and ready for the days challenges with a clearer head.
Having a healthy diet – Not only is it more interesting to have variety in your diet but it is good to give your body a wide range of vitamins and nutrients. Make sure you are eating plenty of vegetables, fruit and grain which are especially healthy. There is a lot to be said for your 5 a day.
